Change of style again, huh?
There's been a lot soul searching going on over the comic recently, to be honest since Christmas 'Out of World' had become a chore, something I was doing out of habit. I was leaving it til the latest possible time to complete it and my heart wasn't it anymore. It was just something I had to do because we had a lot planned but the spark was gone and it was very nearly shut down.
I've been trying to work out why, I've been busy with work that's for sure and I've started teaching a weekly art class which was another pull on my time. But it was something else I couldn't put my finger on until this last week.
I have come to terms with the fact that I am as fickle as they come when it comes to creating art of any sort. I have the attention span of a gnat. With creating the work with pencil I was becoming locked into one way of working, it was very rigid and I think that was what was getting me so down. It was fun at the start and a lot faster than how I usually work but it became so dull and tedious and the idea of finishing this little storyline in that style was actually weighing pretty heavy on me. I think trying new things, even simple things, keeps me going with this comic and... I think I'm ok with that now.
I don't know why I needed to say all this, to clear the air maybe? I dunno. Maybe it was to say expect erratic changes in artistic direction out of nowhere? I’m going to keep going the best I can anyways.
Also, the thumbs not hurting as much this week and is definitely on the mend so I’ll get back into the portraits next week. If you have a place and still haven’t heard anything fear not, you’ve not been forgotten.
As a big fan of Out of World so far, I have to say - I think I'd love what you put up no matter what it was. The art styles used so far have all been utterly sumptuous, and I've stopped expecting neat contiguous storylines that get neatly continued and resolved. Part of the fun has been tuning in every week to find out what random stuff is going to be depicted. It's the vibrant and expressive characters which really set this apart for me, so my humble suggestion would be to draw whatever you feel inspired by rather than trying to stick to a format or a plan. But anyway, yeah, love today's comic as usual :)
I love your comic, been following it since it came out. Love the new story arc, and only have one question not even related to the comic(at least not directly). A few weeks ago I entered the contest for a pic of their WoW toon, and I have yet to get it back. Mine was the druid worgen. Just wondering when I might receive it. Thx :)
Definately got your email, its sitting safe and sound in my inbox, I haven't replied yet because it helps me keep track of who's yet to be started. You're fifth on the overall list so expect to hear back from me next week or the week after.
i should know, i've used that tower to stage many assaults on Stormwind lol. it make a good area to hold out in between skirmishes. that and the Mage district in general. even more-so with Cataclysms changes. lol
You're right I just notice that the ramp is still behind them in that last panel, they could have moved toward the park it's so close by which is why I asked since they found Timmy afterward but it looks like they didn't move :) And for Fan of the Comic, why must you be suspicious of the young! You kidohater you! lol
